Dayton International Airport - home to the Wright Brothers - lays claim to being within 90 minutes by air to 55 percent of the country's population. More than 90,000 passengers pass through the airport annually.

DAY got its start in the mid-1930s when $65,000 was raised to purchase the facility for the City of Dayton on April 30, 1936. TWA was one of the first airlines to fly out of Dayton. Today, the airport supports 10 airlines, it has three runways on 4500 acres, and employs about 2500 people.

Whether your stay at the airport is short- or long-term, there are several parking options available to you. Parking lots are located in front of the terminal building.

For drivers just dropping off or picking up passengers, short-term parking is located just in front of the terminal building. No overnight parking is permitted in this area. Fees are $2 per hour up to a daily maximum of $25.

For customers in a hurry, the credit card lot, adjacent to the terminal building, offers easy access and the convenience of paying with plastic. Parkers swipe their credit cards on the way in and on the way out, with rates of $2 per hour up to a daily maximum of $10.

Long Term Parking Just beyond the short-term parking lot is the airport's long-term lot, which has 1500 spaces. This area is convenient and affordable for those who will be at the airport for longer than a few hours. Rates are $2 per hour up to a daily maximum of $9.

Discount Airport ParkingAdjacent to the long-term parking lot is the Economy Lot, which offers a daily rate of just $5 ($2 per hour up to a daily maximum of $5). For those who plan to park for an extended time, the seventh day is free. Free shuttle service runs continuously between the terminal building and the economy lot.

Valet ParkingAnother short-term option is valet parking, which costs $15. A drop-off point is located just in front of the terminal building (between the short-term lot and the terminal). The valet parking fee is $15.

Dayton International Airport

James M. Cox Dayton International Airport (IATA: DAY, ICAO: KDAY, FAA LID: DAY), also referred to as simply Dayton International Airport, is a public airport located nine miles (14 km) north of the central business district of Dayton, a city in Montgomery County, Ohio, United States[1]. The airport is situated in the Dayton suburb of Vandalia and it is owned and operated by the City of Dayton.[2]

It was founded in 1936 when the city purchased the original private airstrips from a corporation. It is named after James M. Cox, a former governor of Ohio, Democratic presidential nominee, and publisher of the Dayton Daily News.

Dayton International Airport handled 1,306,237 passengers in 2006.

The airport was a hub for Piedmont Airlines until its merger with USAir. After the merger, USAir continued to maintain Dayton as a hub for a short while before eliminating some of its "long" routes like those to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas and to Floridian cities in preference to its Pittsburgh and Indianapolis hubs. USAir, and its successor US Airways, sustained Dayton as a Midwest focus-city with routes to cities like Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, and Columbus with routes to some other cities like Boston plus US Airways hubs in Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Philadelphia, New York City, and Washington, D.C. The airport also served as a hub for Emery Worldwide, a freight carrier.

It currently serves as the headquarters for US Airways Express carrier PSA Airlines. Dayton has emerged as an attractive destination for more airlines and more airline destinations in recent years, notably from low fare carriers. AirTran Airways and Frontier Airlines have emerged as significant competitors at Dayton to the "legacy" carriers.

Dayton was served by Independence Air and ATA Airlines until the dramatic changes at those airlines resulted in service being dropped.

Expansion room exists, with plenty of open gates and even the entire Concourse D - the one formerly used by Piedmont Airlines and USAir for their mini-hub operation.

Crossroads of America

Located at the nucleus of the nation's interstate highway system, getting to the Dayton International Airport couldn't be more convenient.

For travelers who want the convenience of not waiting in exit lines, the Credit Card Lot located adjacent to the Terminal Building, provides easy access to and from the Airport. Simply swipe your VISA, MasterCard or American Express card to enter, and then swipe the SAME card again when you leave.

With a drop-off point located in front of the terminal, customers have the easiest access to “park and fly.” Upon your return your vehicle will be located in one of the convenient pick-up spaces located directly in front of the terminal.

For convenient parking at a lower rate, park in one of the 1,500 spaces, all within easy walking distance of the Terminal Building.
